Policy
At the CSCB, we respect and support your right to privacy and
to the protection of your personal information. Should you choose
to provide personal information to us, we make every effort to
ensure that your information is protected. This policy applies
to all individuals who provide personal information to us. A Privacy
Officer who is responsible for the Association's compliance with
this Policy has been appointed.
The CSCB collects and uses personal information provided by
member firm representatives, CCS designates and students solely
for the
following purposes, where applicable:
- to enable communication;
- for admission to courses, registration and management
of the course including exam administration;
- to provide scholarships and awards;
- to provide products and services requested;
- to provide income tax receipts;
- to process payment for the products and services requested;
- to provide information to that individual about related
products and services in which the individual
might be interested;
- to support analysis, research, and management of educational,
membership, marketing and public relations programs;
- to identify and meet professional development
needs;
- to enable access to the restricted areas
of the CSCB website;
- to meet statutory and regulatory requirements;
and
- for research and planning purposes
People who are neither member firm representatives,
nor CCS designates nor students of
the CSCB also can choose
to provide
personal information
to us. This information is used solely
to provide the products and services
requested; to process
payment for the products
and services requested; to provide
information to that
individual about related products
and services
in which the individual
might
be interested and to respond to inquiries
from that individual.
We collect personal information only
for the purposes outlined above.
We do not
use or
disclose personal
information for
any purpose other than those for
which it was collected, except with your
consent or as required
by law.
Your personal information
will not be sold, traded or leased
to other
parties. Personal information is
retained only as long
as is necessary for
the fulfillment
of the purposes for which it was
collected, or as required by
law.
The only circumstances under which
personal information may be disclosed
to third
parties is for the fulfillment
of any
of the
purposes identified above, or
as required by law. In those instances,
the CSCB
will make
all reasonable
efforts
to
ensure that the
third party has appropriate security
procedures in place for the protection
of the personal information being
transferred.
Accuracy - The CSCB will make
all reasonable efforts to ensure
that
personal information
provided to
us is as
accurate, complete,
and current as required for
the purposes for which it was collected.
If you
find any inaccuracies
in our information,
please inform
us and we will make the appropriate
corrections promptly. The CSCB
relies on you to ensure
that certain information,
such
as your contact information,
is current, complete, and accurate.
Safeguards - The CSCB uses appropriate
security safeguards to protect
your personal information.
Safeguards include
physical, administrative,
and electronic security measures.
All CSCB
employees
are required to follow the
privacy standards we have established.
In the course of
daily operations,
only
those employees
whose job responsibilities
require them to access personal information,
will have access to that information.
Consent - Unless we hear otherwise
from you, your provision
of personal information
to
the CSCB
constitutes consent
for us to
collect, use, and disclose
personal information for
the purposes
stated in this policy.
You may refuse
or withdraw
your consent
at any time, subject to
legal and contractual restrictions
and reasonable
notice.
Such a decision however
could effect our
provision of services to
you. You may refuse or withdraw
your consent
by
writing to the CSCB Privacy
Officer and outlining your
decision. The
CSCB will
acknowledge your
request in
writing.
Access - You have the right
to access your personal
information held by
the CSCB. Upon
request in
writing to the Privacy
Officer, you will be given
access to that information.
In certain
exceptional situations,
the CSCB
may not be able
to
provide access to certain
personal information
that
it holds about
you. If
access cannot
be provided, the CSCB
will notify you, in writing,
of the reasons
for the refusal.
