Tomara Havers and Justin Santiago Winners of the 2015 CSCB Scholarships!

The CSCB Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce the winners of the CSCB Guy Graveline and CSCB Board of Directors scholarships for 2015.

 

Ms. Tomara Havers of Willson International, Sarnia, Ontario, has been awarded the Guy Graveline Scholarship.

Tomara attended the école secondaire Saint François-Xavier and was the recipient of the Governor General’s Academic medal in her senior year.  In addition to her impressive academic achievements, Tomara participated in numerous school clubs and sports teams, and is an accomplished pianist. Tomara has amassed over 530 volunteer hours during her high school years, with 315 hours at the Jackson Pool as an instructor.

Tomara has been accepted into Carleton University in the Bachelor of Science program, specializing in biochemistry. Her plan is to become a dentist.

Ms. Justin Santiago, whose connection to the CSCB is through Cynthia Santiago of Livingston International, Mississauga, Ontario, has been awarded the CSCB Board of Directors Scholarship.

Justin has maintained honour role status for her entire high school career at St. Edmund Campion Secondary School, and has participated in many of the schools dramatic arts activities and clubs. Justin has done volunteer work in the traditional sense, but has found a unique way to give back to her community.  With her talent in cinematography, Justin has developed several videos to promote awareness of several key topics, including mental health.

Justin will be attending Sheridan College where she will pursue a bachelor’s degree in Film and Television.

Congratulations to Tomara and Justin! The CSCB is proud to have been able to play a part in your ongoing education.

The committee would also like to extend its congratulations to all applicants.  From coast to coast, the applicants were all exceptional young adults and it has been our privilege to review their applications.
