Back to Basics on Transaction Value Seminar - Next Week!

October 25, 2016

This is a reminder that the CSCB Toronto Region is hosting an education seminar on Customs Valuation - Back to Basics on Transaction Value, on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the Four Points by Sheraton Toronto Airport.

Importers and customs brokers cannot afford to miscalculate the customs value or value for duty on imports into Canada. Incorrect calculation of the duties and taxes owing on imported goods can result in penalties under the Administrative Monetary Penalty System as well as retroactive duty assessments. Canadian companies that import goods from global purchasing affiliates - in particular - need to exercise care.

Jaime Seidner will outline a proactive approach that will help you mitigate or avoid custom value errors and enable you to understand priority issues in customs.

Jaime Seidner, PwC, Partner, Indirect Tax, Customs and International Trade, has over 25 years of government, "Big 4" accounting firm, consulting and law firm experience in customs and indirect tax. He is a former Canada Customs and Excise official, member of the Canadian Tax Foundation, the International Fiscal Association, the Canadian Society of Customs Brokers (CSCB) and the Institute of Internal Auditors. Jaime is a licensed Customs Broker in both Canada and the United States and an instructor on Customs for the IE Canada Customs Duty and International Trade Course. Jaime is also an advisory board member to the CSCB Certified Trade Compliance Specialist Program.

Everyone is welcome! Participants will be awarded 5 CCS points/CTCS credits.
