Blue Water Bridge workers hit the picket lines

November 21, 2016

With respect to the strike action at the Blue Water Bridge, we understand there is some disruption to those who work in the FBCL (Federal Bridge Corporation Limited) building and are entering the employee parking lot. If members have information on how they are affected by the strike, please let us know ([email protected]) and we will continue to keep members up to date.

Workers at the Blue Water Bridge in Point Edward are on strike this morning.

The members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada walked off the job at 6 a.m.

The union representing the 47 workers says the federal bridge corporation is trying to slash benefits.

The bridge is still open, with managers collecting the tolls on the Canadian side.

Any traffic delays at the bridge could have an affect on the Ambassador Bridge, according to Stan Korosec, director of security with the Canadian Transit Company. So far, there has not been any issues.

"We'll be in touch with officials at Blue Water Bridge to see if there's any delays or backups that may affect our traffic here, but right now we're not seeing any," Korosec said.
