Canada declares avian influenza-free status

Canada has regained its disease-free status for notifiable avian influenza (NAI), based on the standards of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE).

Following the successful elimination of the outbreak, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency conducted targeted, enhanced surveillance for three months. No new cases were detected.

In compliance with OIE requirements, surveillance for NAI is ongoing in Canada on a regular basis.
