Canada inks trade accord

Canada and Jordan have concluded negotiations on a free-trade agreement, the third for Canada this year following similar deals with Colombia and Peru….

Jordan and Canada will eliminate tariffs on most products in overall trade of about C$80 million a year. Parallel labor and environment agreements call for both countries to observe international labor agreements on rights to collective bargaining and abolition of child or compulsory labor, along with minimum employment and health and safety standards. The partners also agree not to relax environmental laws to encourage trade or investment….
