U.S. Customs and Border Protection Intercepts Over 14 Million in Illegal Textile Products

The following notice is extracted from a news release issued by US Customs and Border Protection on 5 September 2006.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the Savannah Port of Entry has seized more than $14 million in goods that were misdescribed in an effort to circumvent trade laws and regulations.

CBP Officers and Import Specialists discovered shipments of jerseys presented with false country of origin documents. The shipments containing almost 1 million jerseys and shirts were part of an alleged scheme to circumvent the China textile quotas by claiming they were produced in another country. …
