CBSA Message (TCC17-140) - Quebec Civic Holiday, June 24

Clients Affected: All clients and service providers who transmit trade data using EDI.

The following is information concerning this year's civic holiday in Quebec on Saturday, June 24, 2017.  All clients, will receive Daily Notices (DNs) on Saturday, June 24 and Tuesday, June 27.  The Statement of Account (SOA) will be sent on the morning of June 25th.  There will be no change to the DN or SOA dates as a result of this holiday.

Goods being released on Saturday, June 24, 2017 in the province of Quebec will be deemed to be released on Sunday, June 25, 2017.  Goods released in other provinces on Saturday June24 will be deemed to be released on Saturday June 24, 2017.

Since this year Saint-Jean-Baptiste falls on a Saturday the B3 Entry data of June 24, 2017 will be payable at the end of July. There is no need for clients with goods released in Quebec to request an extension or short pay on the June SOA for these goods.

For the purposes of calculating the accounting period, June 26, 2017, will be considered a holiday for the province of Quebec and any late accounting penalties will be waived without the client having to submit an application.  This applies only to transactions that were released between June 17, 2017 and June 24, 2017, where the broker’s ‘office of central accounting’ is designated as being in the province of Quebec. Any other clients who may have received late accounting penalties due to the holiday should apply for a waiver to the Recourse Directorate at fax # 343-291-7239.
