CNTL Trucking of International Containers

The following notice is from CN’s Customer Support Centre.

With the growth in drayage business that CN Trucking is handling for import and export containers, we have established new e-mail addresses to which customers should submit their CNTL trucking requests. This should ultimately help us serve you and your customers better.

Key information that should be supplied includes:

- Consignee name, address, contact party with phone number or email address

- Container number

- Pickup number

*All HOLDS (i.e. Customs/ SS line) must be clear and associated charges must be addressed prior to CN delivery.

Requests should be submitted with as much advance notice as possible. This will ensure that we have the driver and chassis resources available. As well, this permits us to set up appointments with shippers or consignees. The latest that requests should be submitted is 3 p.m. the day prior to the trucking activity. Trucking is subject to availability.

Other CNTL trucking news:

Tariff CN 9200 was established with CNTL's commercial trucking rates and rules.

CNTL has expanded its export staging and reservation management capacity in Montreal.

A total of 100 new 20ft tridem chassis are being added to the CN fleet starting April 2006. These will allow customers to maximize payloads beyond CN's current limited 20' weight capacity. As well, they can be run in a B-Train configuration - 2 containers at a time - with heavy payloads.

Once these new chassis have been rolled out across the system, the new maximum payloads will be updated on the CN website at :

http://www.cn.ca/productsservices/intermodal/PDF/Max_Payload.pdf.

Effective April 1, 2006 the applicable fuel surcharge will be governed by CN 7401, which offers a more favourable fuel rate than other truckers.
