Consolidation of CBSA Hamilton Operations

Members are advised that effective 7 January 2008, the Canada Border Services Agency will be consolidating the Hamilton operations. The staff at 400 Grays Road in Hamilton will be moving to the CBSA operation at the John C. Munro International, (Hamilton) Airport.

Highway commercial carriers will continue to report in bond shipments to the licensed Highway Sufferance Warehouse facility at 400 Grays Rd for processing by the CBSA. Commercial clearances for all modes of transportation will be facilitated by EDI transmission, fax or by submitting documentation to our officers at our airport location. More detailed release, accounting and payment procedures will be provided to commercial clients in a separate document to be issued shortly.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT THE SUFFERANCE WAREHOUSE IS NOT CLOSING AND WILL CONTINUE TO OPERATE FOR THE RECEIPT OF IN BOND FREIGHT.

The airport office is staffed 24 hrs a day 7 days a week to facilitate EDI transmission. Commercial hours for paper transactions and other long room functions will continue to be performed Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00 pm. Special services charges may apply to paper processing after 5:00 pm or weekends.

The role of the sufferance warehouse operator will not be changed significantly. Delivery Authority Copy will be continue to be transmitted via RNS or faxed from the Hamilton Airport.
