D11-4-14, Certification of Origin Under Free Trade Agreements

Paragraph 5 of this D memo indicates that Certificates of Origin may be transmitted by e-mail to CBSA upon request. The CSCB will follow up with CBSA to clarify where this authority is found.

This memorandum outlines and explains the certification requirements respecting the exportation of commercial goods under a free trade agreement to which Canada is a Party.

  1. This memorandum has been revised to reflect the implementation of the Canada-Peru Free Trade Agreement (CPFTA), the Canada-Colombia Free Trade Agreement (CCOFTA), the Canada-European Free Trade Association Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA), the Canada-Jordan Free Trade Agreement (CJFTA), the Canada-Panama Free Trade Agreementv(CPAFTA) and the Canada-Honduras Free Trade Agreement (CHFTA). Changes have been made to provide policy and procedural information related to the administration of these free trade agreements.
  2. This memorandum has also been revised to incorporate a paragraph (paragraph 5) that addresses the validity of an electronic signature on documents used to certify goods.
