Department of Finance Trade Remedy Consultations

May 3, 2016

The following message is from the Department of Finance, advising that they have launched public consultations on potential changes to Canada’s trade remedy system. Canada’s trade remedy system provides recourse for Canadian producers that are injured by unfairly traded goods entering the Canadian market.

The trade remedy’s primary legislation is the Special Import Measures Act and amendments to that legislation are being considered.

Members who wish to comment may do so by sending an email to [email protected] by June 15, 2016. Comments will be compiled into a position paper and directed to the Department of Finance.
