Dubai To Join CSI

The following is excerpted from the 13 December 2004 online edition of “The Journal of Commerce”.

The United Arab Emirates has agreed to join U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Container Security Initiative.

The UAE is the first Arab nation to join the anti-terror program. Under the agreement, Customs will post inspectors to the port of Dubai (schedules) to help local officials screen U.S.-bound cargo before it is loaded aboard ships. Dubai is a major transshipment port for the Gulf region.
