Electricity Reporting Requirements for Air Handlers

June 22, 2010

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is proposing to amend Canada's Energy Efficiency Regulations to ensure compliance with new electricity reporting requirements for certain goods (air handlers used in central heating and cooling systems) that are imported, or shipped provincially for sale or lease in Canada.

For imported goods, reports must be submitted by the dealer to NRCan before the product is imported into Canada or traded inter-provincially. Customs release documents must show the:

- type of product;

- model number;

- brand name;

- name and address of dealer importing the goods; and

- purpose for which the goods are being imported.

Members with an interest in these products can view the NRCan notice here: http://cscb.ca/listinfo/air-handling-C823-A12-bulletin.pdf
