Marine Carrier Codes

The CBSA has asked us to remind members that as of November 29, 2004, the requirement to transmit the "CE" or "E" from the MA field of the cargo control document has been eliminated.

Marine carriers may choose to transmit only the BI (their carrier code) + the OB (their ocean bill of lading number). The CBSA will concatenate the CCN from these two data fields.

More information on this can be seen at the CBSA's website at this URL:

As well, all non-U.S. marine shipments MUST be reported by EDI.
