Account Inquiries

Account inquiries for BN importer/exporter account data are to be directed to either the nearest Tax Services Office or local Customs Office. To obtain information regarding an import/export account, callers must provide the Tax Services Office or local Customs Office with the nine digit Business Number (BN Registration number) as well as the name and/or address of at least one of the associated import/export accounts. The phone number for these offices can be found in the blue pages of your local telephone directory under Revenue Canada.

In an effort to reduce the volume of requests for confirmation of an importer's existing BN import/export account data (ie. BN, import/export account number or account name), Customs would like to take this opportunity to encourage importers to provide their brokers and/or agents with up-to-date BN import/export account data on a regular basis. Brokers/agents are encouraged to maintain accurate records concerning their client's BN and import/export account data.
