An Opportunity to Gain the Certified Customs Specialist Designation

We announced exciting news about the CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) program just before Christmas, 2006.

There is a limited opportunity -- between now and 31 March 2007 -- for eligible individuals to get the CCS designation.

This includes those who previously held the CCS designation, or successfully completed the CSCB Qualification course or successfully completed the government’s Qualifying or Professional Customs Broker Examination.

We strongly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to obtain CCS status!

Just complete the CCS application found on our web site at

We will also need proof of your eligibility for the designation: a copy of your certificate showing that you passed the CBSA Customs Brokers Qualifying or Professional Examination, or the CSCB Qualification or Certified Customs Specialist course.

You must also pay the $95 CCS fee for 2007.

To maintain the designation, you will have to obtain 20 professional development points each year, including 2007, and pay the annual renewal fee.

The success of the CCS program over the past five years has been rewarding for our designates, for employers, and for the CSCB. The CSCB Board of Directors has approved this opportunity to strengthen the CCS designation through broader access; to reinforce the value of the CCS designation as the customs brokerage industry standard; and to underline the commitment to excellence represented by the CCS designation.
