Reminder: Amended SWI ECCRD – Update

June 6, 2019

Please note that one should not make any systems changes until CBSA re-issues the amended version of the ECCRD.

In our May 22 message to members, the CSCB advised members that CBSA was exploring options to further facilitate full transition to the IID. This was after a discussion with the CSCB regarding the significant number of changes outlined in the amended ECCRD and a concern with the time and cost required to implement these changes.

As a result, CBSA has suggested the following:

The current ECCRD (not the recently updated version), may continue to be used. Those wishing to test with the amended ECCRD may do so. The amended ECCRD, introduced on April 24, will no longer include code changes that relate to the Compliance Statement (all coding that starts with the letter M). A revised version of the addendum, with the compliance codes removed, will be issued.

On a given date, those who wish to test with the amended ECCRD may begin to do so and a version code will be added so that CSBA is aware of which version is being used.

Using this approach, Trade Chain Partners will be given a chance to test using the amended ECCRD at the same time as continuing to transmit data using the current ECCRD. This flexibility will allow clients to adapt to the amended ECCRD as their schedules allow and will also avoid all parties switching to the new version on the same day.

CBSA has requested feedback from the CSCB and we would appreciate comments from members on whether they would be able to take advantage of the approach outlined above. Members wishing to comment are asked to send their comments to Michelle Criger by end of day Monday, June 10.
