Wheat Products Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ)

This message affects imports of wheat products classified under Customs Tariff headings: 11.01, 11.03, 11.04, 11.08, 11.09, 19.01, 19.02, 19.04, 19.05 and 23.02.

The purpose of this message is to inform you that the 2007-08 Wheat Products tariff rate quota will be filled as of October 5, 2007, and that the “within access commitment” tariff items will be closed. Accordingly, General Import Permit No. 20 (wheat products) will be suspended from October 5, 2007 to July 31, 2008. Firms wishing to import wheat products should cite General Import Permit No. 100, which allows firms to import eligible agricultural goods on the Import Control List at the “over access commitment” rates of duty.

Please note that for wheat products qualifying for the U.S., Mexican, Chilean or Costa Rican tariff, the “over access commitment” and “within access commitment” rates of duty are the same.

A Notice to Importers explaining this action will be mailed to importers within the next week and is available on our web site at: http://www.international.gc.ca/eicb.
