Finance Canada is seeking members’ views on a request received for the elimination of the tariff on certain upholstery fabrics. They propose the creation of a new tariff item 9922.00.00. The tariff item would read as follows:

 

9922.00.00        Woven fabrics or coated woven fabrics, of Chapter 39, Chapters 51 to 55, Chapter 59, and of headings 58.01, 58.03, 58.05, 58.09 and 58.10, specified or provided to a manufacturer by a customer in the restaurant or hotel business, operating at arms length, solely for use as outer coverings in the manufacture of that customer's upholstered seats ofsubheadings 9401.30, 9401.40, 9401.61, and 9401.71.
