EU traceability requirements

Members are advised that the Department of Fisheries and Oceans document "Backgrounder - Canada’s response to new EU traceability requirements" is now available on the CFIA website: http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/peches-fisheries/fish-ren-peche/sff-cpd/traceability-back-tracabilite-eng.htm.

This document describes the new EU regulation establishing a system to prevent, deter and eliminate illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

Plant Protection Policy Directives Update

Members are advised the following directive has been updated on the CFIA website.

D-07-03 "Plant Protection (Phytosanitary) Import Requirements to Prevent the Entry of Epiphyas postvittana (Walker) (light brown apple moth)"

This directive has been revised to include a clarification of language and to remove the map of regulated areas within the state of California as this map is no longer accurate. This directive has also been updated to include new import requirements for fresh cut flowers, decorative branches and foliage originating from New Zealand, and to clarify the requirements for Certificates of Origin for commodities from the United States.
