CBSA launches pilot project

In preparation for the busy summer tourist season, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has launched a three-month pilot project to broadcast via Twitter estimated border wait times for crossing the Canada-United States land border.

“I am pleased that the CBSA, a professional, innovative organization, is always looking for ways to keep Canadians informed and prepared for their border crossing requirements,” said Stephen Rigby, CBSA President. “The CBSA is committed to applying low-cost technologies like Twitter to keep service delivery standards high without increasing costs to the taxpayer.”

Offering travellers the convenience of mobility, this latest tool provides travellers with an alternate method of receiving border wait time information. Users will be able to search for the specific land border crossings for which they wish to get updates. A user’s search can also be saved for easy access at a later date. Those who choose to follow the CBSA_BWT account will receive updates to all border wait times across Canada.
