China's trade surplus hits two-year high

Another day, another surprising economic number out of Beijing. China’s trade surplus grew unexpectedly quickly to $31.5-billion in July, its highest level in more than two years.

Both exports and imports were up last month, according to customs administration data released yesterday; exports rose 20.4 per cent in July year on year, up from 17.9 per cent in June, while imports increased 22.9 per cent in July, up from 19.3 per cent in June...
