Medical Devices Regulations

PC 1998-783 is the Medical Devices Regulations. Because the vast majority of medical devices are imported into Canada, the Theraputic Products Program plans to develop ties with Canada Customs to enable electronic import monitoring to ensure compliance with these Regulations.

Devices imported or sold in Canada must meet 11 fundamental safety and effectiveness requirements and must be labelled in accordance with specific labelling requirements.
