PC 2000-1074

PC 2000-1074 is the United Nations Eritrea Regulations. Their purpose is to implement Resolution 1298, adopted by the United Nations Security Council on May 17, 2000, pursuant to Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter. Resolution 1298 imposes a comprehensive arms embargo on Eritrea. It requires that all states prevent the sale or supply of arms and related materials to Eritrea, by their nationals or from their territories, or using their flag vessels or aircraft.

The embargo covers arms and related materials of all types, including weapons and ammunition, military vehicles and equipment, paramilitary equipment, and spare parts, from wherever they may originate. The Security Council makes an exception, however, for supplies of non-lethal military equipment intended solely for humanitarian use, as approved in advance by the UN Security Council.
