Increased Examinations of Goods from EU and Argentina

The CSCB has just learned that customs brokers can expect to see an increasing number of shipments from the EU and Argentina held for examination as a direct result of increased Customs vigilance related to foot and mouth disease. While all shipments from these countries will not be affected, members should be aware that Customs' concern extends beyond agricultural commodities.

It would be appreciated if members could keep the National Office informed of their experiences with this Customs initiative given the breadth of its scope and likely impact. CCRA has declared this issue to be a priority and we will keep members informed as we learn more.
