Use of Sub-Agents in Ports where Primary Agent is Licensed

Approximately five months ago, the CSCB wrote to David Moore, Manager, CCRA Broker Licensing to express concern with his statement that "It should be noted that a customs broker cannot use a Sub-Agent in the area in which the customs broker is licensed."

Although we have not yet received a written response to our letter, this issue was discussed at a recent meeting of CSCB and CCRA representatives. We again stated our case for the use of sub-agents within ports where a primary agent is also licensed and were pleased to learn that CCRA is reconsidering its policy.

Any members with questions relating to the use of a sub-agent within a port where they are licensed should contact the CSCB national office.
