G7 Data Harmonization Initiative

In December 2001 the CSCB notified members of the G7 one-step pilot project initiated by the CCRA, and offered members an opportunity to participate in the customs brokerage response to this initiative. In addition to the ongoing efforts undertaken on this initiative by the CSCB Systems Design Committee, several members have contacted us about this opportunity.

The CCRA has announced that the G7 Data Harmonization (One-Step) Initiatives are on track for scheduled release in the spring of 2003. The design phase has been completed and draft message maps are available for:

1. import one step (release on full documentation)
2. G7 import one step (G7 EDIFACT)
3. electronic one step (CADEX)

1. G7 export one step (G7 EDIFACT)

The import options will provide users the advantage of submitting their release and accounting data at the time of release, utilizing either the internationally standardized G7 EDIFACT message or a new CADEX message.

The export option will allow users to submit their export data directly to Customs via EDI using the internationally standardized G7 EDIFACT message.

Members with an interest in participating in the CCRA’s pilot project should contact the CSCB national office, and we’ll pass along your request to the CCRA project manager.
