AMPS Contraventions C289 and C292
As the result of questions raised by the CSCB, the CCRA have advised that contraventions C289 and C292, both concerning late accounting, will not be documented on an NPA. Customs will continue to issue penalties in the same manner as they did prior to October 7, 2002; that is, for those shipments with a value for duty greater than $1,600.00, the penalty will be indicated on the K84 and for those with a value for duty less than $1,600.00, the penalty will be issued on form K23.
The penalty will continue to be a flat $25.00, either per transaction or per shipment, as indicated in the contravention backgrounders. Since these penalties will not be the subject of an NPA, they will not form part of the client's compliance record with respect to AMPS.
