AMPS and C274

Since the implementation of AMPS on October 7th, the CSCB has made numerous representations to CCRA about the impact of penalties under Contravention C274, and the fact that the application of C274 had resulted in delays in the movement of goods to importers. We have written personally to Ken McCarthy, the Director of AMPS, and to Denis Lefebvre, the Assistant Commissioner. We have also written to the CAIE and CME and spoken to carriers and freight forwarders. We have not had the courtesy of a reply from CCRA directly to the CSCB, but we did want members to be aware that a proposal to change C274 has been circulated to all CTACC members.

Members wishing to provide input to the CSCB response on this issue, which will be coordinated by the Board of Directors and National Committee on Operational Issues, should direct comments, in writing, to the CSCB national office.
