AMPS Update

Representatives of the CSCB attended an AMPS Working Group meeting in Toronto yesterday. At that meeting, the following information was provided by the CCRA:

1. Contravention 349, temporarily suspended in November, will be permanently withdrawn from the AMPS Master Penalty Document.

2. Updated AMPS statistics are as follows:

As of January 5, 2003, a total of 3,235 NPAs have been issued. These NPA's cover 4,065 contraventions. (Some NPAs contain more than one contravention).
- 137 penalties were issued for contravention C274
- per region, or area, there were 125 contraventions in Atlantic; 519 in Quebec, 98 in Northern Ontario, 505 in Southern Ontario (GTA), 781 in Niagara Falls, 1004 in Southern Ontario (Windsor area), 508 in Prairie Region, and 525 in Pacific Highway.

3. Look for a new "How Do I" section on the CCRA website within the next two weeks. Information will be provided that explains the correction and appeals process for NPAs.
