SIMA Review of Undertakings regarding Plastic Shrinkable Bags

On 2 April 2003 the CCRA announced that a review pursuant to section 53 of the SIMA has been concluded with respect to plastic shrinkable bags, whether in finished or semi-finished (tubular) form, for vacuum packaging of meat and other food products, originating in or exported from the United States of America.

The Commissioner of Customs and Revenue is satisfied that the undertakings no longer serve the purpose for which they were intended and that he is not required to terminate pursuant to section 52 of SIMA. Accordingly, on 2 April 2003 these undertakings will be allowed to expire in accordance with subsection 53(2) of the Act and all proceedings respecting the subject goods are terminated pursuant to subsection 53(3) of SIMA.
