U.S. Bound Truck Volumes at Blue Water Bridge Set Record

The following article is excerpted from the Ontario Trucking Association web site on 1 April 2004.

Today the Blue Water Bridge announced that truck volumes destined for the United States set an all time record for the month of March. Commercial traffic in March saw an increase of 8% over 2003 figures. In addition to the increased commercial volumes, the use of the FAST program at the bridge is gaining significant momentum. On peak volume days at the bridge, the equivalent of 8 kilometres of stopped truck traffic is processed through the dedicated FAST lanes at the Bridge.

The FAST program at the Blue Water Bridge has been instrumental in facilitating legitimate trade and providing the benefit of significantly reduced border transit times…. FAST approved drivers, working for C-TPAT carriers and moving product for C-TPAT shippers are clearing the border in minutes as opposed to waiting in line for hours....
