The initiative to examine requirements of other government departments is welcomed by the CSCB. CBSA has clearly acknowledged that ACI will not work without OGD's on side, and it was good to hear that they are not just looking at automating existing processes, but at a comprehensive review of whether business can be done differently and whether OGD requirements can be met by post-entry verification rather than at the frontier, pre-release. CSCB will be following up to see how we can best contribute to this discussion.

The CSCB will also be pursuing our "middle ground" option, which is more closely harmonized with he US's FAST process.

We acknowledge progress made with ACROSS stability issues and welcomed the statement from the CBSA that its objective is "continuous availability" of automated systems, not just "high availability.

Presentations from this meeting were made available to members on April 22. Comments from members can be sent to the CSCB at [email protected].
