Ships await green light to enter B.C. ports

Three B.C.-bound ships have fallen afoul of Canada’s tough new port security rules, and are awaiting clearance before they can enter local ports.

While new international maritime laws came into effect July 1, even tougher regulations were laid out for entry to ports in Canada and the U.S. Bernard Pilon of Transport Canada would give no further details on the ships or on their destinations. He said every vessel wishing to enter Canada has to report its arrival at least 96 hours before it docks….
