Brampton Terminal Performance August 30 to September 12, 2004

The following message is from Manager at CN’s Brampton Terminal.

The Brampton Terminal Performance statistics for the weeks August 30, 2004 to September 12, 2004 inclusive are available on the CSCB web site:

The dwell times and grounded inventories continue grow over the weekends. Night pick-ups improved in the early part of August but toward that later part of August and early September we are seeing slippage in the volume of night and weekend pick-ups compared to daytime pick-ups Monday through Friday. As we head into the fall peak season, this trend needs to be reversed to handle the increasing volumes efficiently.

Of special note was the Import Out Gate Volume on Friday September 03, Tuesday September 07 and Wednesday September 08. These volumes were higher than typical, good work by all involved. Now how do we accomplish the same thing on regular weekends?

From a Terminal perspective the Average Carter Turn Times during the last few weeks have been very good. We continue to work with the cartage community and Freight Forwarder representatives to ensure continuous improvement by all parties involved in this transportation logistics chain.
