Trade Outreach Sessions for the ACE Electronic Manifest (Trucks)

The following message is from US Customs and Border Protection in Buffalo, New York.

The Port of Buffalo, NY will be a pilot port for the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Electronic Truck Manifest. Current planning has the pilot test beginning in December of 2004.

During the pilot phase, carriers will not be required to use the electronic manifest, but there will come a time when the “E-Manifest” will be required of all carriers. It is not known when that may occur, but when the decision is reached, it is likely that there will be a window of 60 to 90 days after the announcement, after which submission of the electronic manifest will be a requirement for trucks arriving in the USA at a port where it is available.

There will be two outreach sessions in Buffalo, NY for the trade to become familiarized with the program and its basic requirements. These sessions will be presented by personnel working full time on the ACE program for CBP, perhaps with members of the consortium putting the ACE program together.

The sessions will be held at the:

Niagara Branch Library
280 Porter Avenue
Buffalo, New York 14201

The schedule is as follows:

Tuesday, September 21, 2004 2:00 PM

Thursday, September 23, 2004 10:30 AM

These sessions are a high level overview, not a technical explanation of the program. They are appropriate for both carriers and brokers to attend. Please plan to attend either session to learn about this upcoming requirement.
