CPR International Intermodal Terminal Policy Changes

The following message is from the General Manager – International at CPR.

In our ongoing efforts to improve CPR's Intermodal Terminal operations, we will be introducing a new initiative, associated with the protection of marine container storage charges at our various Canadian terminals.

Effective October 18, 2004, the following policy changes will be implemented for International Marine Containers:

· Guarantees for Marine Container Storage must be open.

o CPR will no longer accept guarantee's that indicate specific [r]ate closures or dollar value limitations related to a specific container or containers.

· Guarantees must be for the entire shipment. They cannot be split between two parties.

o CPR will no longer allow multiple companies to pay storage on a container or containers.

· At this time, guarantees are to be forwarded to the respective Intermodal terminals. However, very soon CPR will be directing such guarantees to CPR's new Intermodal Central Operations Group (COG). At that time we will require the guarantees 2 hours prior to pick up of a container at a specific CPR Intermodal terminal. CPR will require this additional time to process the guarantee and assure appropriate release is in place for the specific marine container(s).

A separate bulletin will be issued in the next few weeks advising of the new phone and fax numbers for the COG center.
