CN Message regarding Port of Montreal - Western Canada

The following message is from CN’s International Marketing group at the Customer Service Centre.

In recent weeks there has been a large increase in traffic being tendered at the Port of Montreal, for movement to Western Canada. This traffic connects to the West via Toronto. In recent weeks, the timing of arrivals of this traffic in Toronto has caused connection issues because of capacity, which has impacted both service from the Port of Montreal to the West, as well as originating traffic from Toronto.

To better plan for the arrival of these connections, CN will be requesting the Ocean Terminals in Montreal to load Western Canada traffic on Friday, Saturday and Sunday only. This traffic will connect to train service from Toronto Sunday thru Tuesday. Space is being reserved for these connections.

This planned change in service will offer improvement in connecting traffic from the Port of Montreal. CN will know the days this traffic will be offered, which is not the case today, and will be able to coordinate with other traffic being tendered in advance.

This plan will be effective immediately, and will commence Friday September 24th.
