Brampton Terminal Performance Statistics, 20 to 26 September 2004

The following message is from the Manager at Brampton Intermodal Terminal.

The Brampton Terminal Performance statistics for the week of September 20 to September 26 is available on the CSCB web site, at:

http://www.cscb.ca/listinfo/bit26sept04.xls

The dwell times and grounded inventories continue grow over the weekends. In the later part of August and early September there has been slippage in the volume of night and weekend pick-ups compared to daytime pick-ups Monday through Friday. As we head into the fall peak season, this trend needs to be reversed to handle the increasing volumes efficiently.

From a Terminal perspective the Average Carter Turn Times during the last few weeks have been very good. We continue to work with Cartage Community and Freight Forwarder representatives to ensure continuous improvement by all parties involved in this transportation logistics chain.

NOTE: There was a mainline derailment in Northern Ontario this past weekend that has caused some delay to trains that were scheduled to arrive at BIT yesterday and today. The mainline has been cleared and the delayed trains will start arriving at BIT during the evening of Monday September 27 and into the morning on Tuesday September 28.
