CN Service Advisories - Maritime provinces, Montmagny Subdivision and Chicago

The following message is from the Director of CN’s Customer Support Centre.

CN Customers in the Moncton and Halifax areas should expect service delays through Sunday and early Monday due to snow, freezing rain and heavy wind conditions (over 40 km/h).

On Friday, November 12th at approximately 1325hrs ET, CN train Q12031-12 derailed near Diamond PQ, on the Montmagny subdivision of the CN main line. The incident, which occurred east of Joffre (Québec City), affected our main line traffic running between the Maritime provinces and the remainder of our network. The site was cleared by 2000hrs ET on Saturday, November 13th. Some delays should still be expected over the weekend as the area returns to normal operations.

Due to congestion involving the Belt Railway of Chicago (BRC), CN's traffic handled by this switching carrier will be delayed from 24 to 36 hours through the weekend. CN is attempting to make alternate routing arrangements with other rail carriers in the area in order to lessen the inconvenience to customers.

We will post further details on this web page as they become available.
