Introducing Export Reservations – CN Winnipeg

The following notice is from CN’s Customer Support Centre.

Effective Monday 28 March 2005 all export traffic delivered to CN at Winnipeg Intermodal terminal must have a reservation, and the traffic must be delivered to the terminal within the effective time of the reservation. The reservation process is attached on the reverse. It is important to review the attached process.

On Tuesday 22 March CN will host a general session to review the reservations process and address any questions. The session will be held from 19:00 – 21:00 at the Delta Winnipeg 350 St. Mary in Campaign A meeting room. This session will be of interest to all trucking companies delivering containers to CN Winnipeg, and any other parties that may be making reservations. Please confirm your attendance by email to [email protected].

Requests for reservations for the week of Monday 28 March will be accepted beginning as of Wednesday 23 March 2005. Should you require additional clarification, please write to [email protected] or call 1-866- 851-7837. The reservations staff will be available Monday - Friday from 06:00 - 18:00 CT and from 09:00 - 13:00 CT on Saturdays.

Export Reservations Checklist – CN Winnipeg

·Get booking number (for export load, or empty repositioning)
·Determine preferred date to deliver container to CN.
·Request reservation number from CN (request may be made by trucker, forwarder, or exporter)

Send email to [email protected] including:

The terminal at which you want to drop the container (Winnipeg)
The preferred date of delivery to CN
The quantity to be dropped and the booking number
Whether the container to be dropped is a 20ft or 40+ft
Your company name, contact name, telephone number (incase we need to contact you)

If space exists a reservation number will be returned by email. Note the permissible time period to deliver the container to CN will be listed on the reservation confirmation.

Requests will be accepted starting the Thursday of the week prior to the requested reservation date.

Requests for date of closing will be prioritized provided they are received by 10:00 CT two business days before closing.

All export loads as well as empties to be repositioned require a reservation.

One reservation is required per container.

Plan for the driver to arrive at the terminal within the effective date and time of the reservation (it will be listed on the reservation confirmation)

Upon arrival at the CN terminal, the driver will need to provide the reservation number along with the usual documentation.

Cancellations may be made without penalty provided they are received prior to 10:00 CT on the business day prior to the reservation day

No reservation is required to pick up an import container

No reservation is required to deliver an empty to the CN terminal if it is for CN’s use (the booking number will start with NR)

No reservation is required to return a unit to CN for storage

Hours of operation for CN reservations are 06:00 – 18:00 CT Monday – Friday, and 09:00 – 13:00 CT on Saturday.
