Clarification from CN regarding Container Weights

The following message is from CN’s Customer Support Centre.

[On 27 May] … a reminder was sent … regarding the new overweight provisions effective June 1, 2005. CN has outlined the new weight maximums and applicable charges. These maximums do not supersede any other maximums that may apply to individual containers. In other words CN will accept a net loading of 55,000 lbs in a 20' container and 65,000 lbs in a 40' container, but only if this weight is an acceptable weight for the container actually being loaded.
Containers are NEVER to be loaded beyond their indicated maximum capacity.
Please ensure your shippers are aware of this.

CN is able to set maximum loading for particular types of containers that may be lower than the new maximums established. To do this, we require a listing of your containers by series with the weights identified. This listing should be sent to the Winnipeg CSC.
