On August 10, 2006, five convictions and $9,000 in fines, were registered against Ng Fung Enterprises (1999) Ltd. in a provincial court in Richmond, B.C. for violating the Fish Inspection Act .

The violations were discovered when Ng Fung Enterprises (1999) Ltd. applied to renew their fish import licence. A review of their import documentation by the CFIA revealed that the importer had failed to declare a number of shipments imported into Canada. Upon further inspection, CFIA inspectors also found that the importer had not kept import records for one shipment.

A fine of $2,000 was assessed for each of four counts of failing to report importations of fish to CFIA, and a further fine of $1,000 was assessed for failing to keep records of imported fish….
