Request for Tariff Relief on Certain Polyester Fibres
 
            The Department of Finance is requesting members’ views on a request for tariff relief on certain polyester fabrics for use in the manufacture of internal roller shade systems. The Department proposes to create new tariff items to read as follow:
 
5515.12.20     -- woven fabric of yarns of polyester staple fibres and yarns of polyester filaments, impregnated with polyurethane, for use in the manufacture of internal roller shade systems
 
5903.90.26     -- warp knit fabric of synthetic polyester filaments, unbleached or bleached, impregnated with polyurethane, for use in the manufacture of internal roller shade systems
 
6005.31.60     -- woven fabric of polyester filaments coated on one side with two thin layers of acrylic polymers and on the other wide with a layer of a polyvinyl acetate polymer, for use in the manufacture of internal roller shade systems
 
These products are currently classified under tariff item nos. 5515.12.90; 5903.90.29; and
6005.31.90, all of which are dutiable at 14 per cent under the MFN tariff.
