Quality Management Program Guide

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is pleased to present "Developing a Quality Management Program (QMP) Plan: A Fish and Seafood Processor's Step-by-step Guide". The QMP, which began in 1992, was the world's first mandatory food inspection program based on Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles.

Canadian processors wanting to export must comply with the requirements of the Fish Inspection Regulations (FIR). In order to meet the FIR requirements, processors must develop a QMP plan, which must include a HACCP plan. This Guide will serve as a tool for developing a QMP plan that is tailored to the establishment's operating conditions.
