Don’t miss our fourth CSCB Member Forum tomorrow!

April 30, 2020

Don’t miss our fourth CSCB Member Forum tomorrow, May 1st at 1 pm ET!

This week's theme is Best practices for communicating with clients and one another.

Once again, we will ask you a number of poll questions. Here they are (same as forum 3 questions):

  • Of your clients who are currently importing, what percentage has provided you with a financial deposit or prepayment? (0%, 1-25%, 26-50%, 51-75%, 76-100%)
  • What percentage of your clients has provided you with GST Direct Payment Option letters? (0%, 1-25%, 26-50%, 51-75%, 76-100%)
  • What percentage of your clients hold their own importer release prior to payment bonds? (0%, 1-25%, 26-50%, 51-75%, 76-100%)
  • Have you stopped handling imports for any clients who refused new credit or payment terms?  (Yes / No)
  • Are you concerned about your business’s capacity to survive this crisis? (Yes / No)

And a few new questions:

  • Do you use Accounts Receivable insurance?  (Yes / No)
  • Do you use a credit rating agency to assess clients?  (Always, Most times, Sometimes, Never)
  • Do you have  a standard credit application that you use for new clients? (Yes / No)
  • Do you ask new clients the name of their current customs broker? (Always, Most times, Sometimes, Never)
  • Do you ask new clients why they are leaving their current customs broker? (Always, Most times, Sometimes, Never)
  • Do you always contact a  potential new client’s current customs broker regarding any unpaid debts? (Always, Most times, Sometimes, Never)

Please assign one person in your company to answer the questions during the session.

Additionally, earlier this week, we asked those of you who have participated in our Forums to write a letter to your Member of Parliament on the liability of customs brokers created by the government’s decision to defer payment of duties and taxes. It’s not too late to do that now! See Call to Action.

Once again, this will be an open-mic session, however, if you wish to provide questions in advance, please email them to [email protected].
