Request for Transparency and Additional Consultation on Upcoming Valuation for Duty Regulations

The CSCB has joined 13 likeminded organizations to write to the Minister of Public Safety about our continued concerns with the CBSA’s proposed amendments to the Valuation for Duty Regulations. The letter reiterates our concerns about the language in the draft regulations that were published in the Canada Gazette, Part I in summer 2023, and seeks an opportunity for industry to be consulted on a revised draft before the amended regulations are finalized. It also seeks a 12-month delay in the coming into force of the regulations so that supply chain entities can determine the impacts of the changes on their operations.
