2014 Toronto Region Education Seminar - Air and Ocean Clearance Procedures

The CSCB Toronto Region would like to invite you to an education seminar on Air and Ocean Clearance Procedures on December 9 in Mississauga.

The presenter, Harmeet Kohli, B.S.B.A., M.B.A., CCS, CTCS, CCCF, PFF, FIATA, CITP, CCI, has been involved in international business for the past 28 years through his family business and academic training. He has extensive interests in the Middle-East, India, Europe, China, Canada, and the USA where he primarily consults on the import and export of consumer products. He has taught business-related courses at several colleges and universities in North America. His expertise lies in foreign exchange transactions, import, export, sourcing products, freight forwarding, customs rules, trade finance rules, international law, and international economics and finance. Harmeet is a CSCB CCS (Certified Customs Specialist), a CTCS (Certified Trade Compliance Specialist), a member of FITT and CIFFA. Currently, Harmeet consults with Canadian and International firms on the import and export of textiles, foodstuffs and electronics.

The seminar will cover:

  • Documentation overview – Pre-alert / Arrival Notice / AWB / OBL / HBL / Certificates of Origin / Insurance
  • Freight forwarder’s role and ACI holds
  • Incoterms and how they impact the customs broker’s clearance role
  • Review of timeframes to present release requests under air and ocean modes for FCL and LCL
  • Tracing – with AWB, OBL or container number on airlines, steamship or rail or warehouse websites
  • Payment of charges and surrendering of OBL
  • Arranging Delivery – terminal releases / pickup numbers / delivery instructions / storage guarantee

3 CCS points/CTCS credits will be awarded to designates attending this seminar.
