Canada is a Party to the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade (Rotterdam Convention). The 6th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention will take place in Geneva, Switzerland in May 2013.

The following industrial chemicals and pesticides will be considered for listing to Annex III of the Rotterdam Convention at this meeting:

  • Pentabromodiphenyl ethers (PBDE)
    • PentaBDE commercial mixtures

  • Perfluorooctane sulfonate and its salts and precursors (PFOS)
  • Azinphos-methyl (CAS No. 86-50-0)
